SV Green Sheet, Hydraulics Practice Test

Illuminated flight control LOW PRESSURE lights indicate low hydraulic pressure to critical flight control surfaces. In hydraulic systems used in aircraft, maintaining appropriate hydraulic pressure is essential for the effective operation of various flight control systems, including ailerons, elevators, and rudders. When the LOW PRESSURE lights activate, it serves as a warning to the pilot that the hydraulic pressure is below the necessary level required to ensure proper functioning of these key surfaces. This situation can directly impact the aircraft's maneuverability and control, necessitating immediate attention from the flight crew.

Normal hydraulic system performance would not result in illuminated LOW PRESSURE lights, as that would signify proper operation. Similarly, normal gear transition is unrelated to flight control hydraulic pressure, and while potential system failure could be a concern in systems with low pressure, the specific warning indicated by the LOW PRESSURE lights is targeted toward the hydraulic support for flight controls. Therefore, understanding the implications of lighting in hydraulic systems is critical for maintaining safety and operational integrity in aviation.
